Chapter 12: A Beauty Has Arrived

Su Biluo felt something was off and opened her eyes and turned to look.

“Ah—” she cried out, raising her arms reflexively in a pointless attempt to shield herself.

A huge horse reared its front hooves, about to come down right on her head. Su Biluo’s heart stopped; it was too late even to call for help.

She closed her eyes and awaited the inevitable.

A burst of cold air rushed at her as a figure shot over like lightning. She felt something pull at her waist and she was whisked away from under the horse’s hooves.

She broke out in a cold sweat. It had all happened in the blink of an eye.

She didn’t need to look up; she knew who had saved her.

That broad, strong, yet warm chest, like a comfy bed… Who else could it be?

She snuggled deep into Mo Zichen’s arms and clutched him tightly.

“What’s wrong, Maka, what happened?” came a sweet, charming voice from within the carriage.

Mo Zichen seemed to jolt suddenly, then he dropped Su Biluo and jumped onto the carriage and helped Maka, the maidservant, get the manic horse under control.

“Grand General, what a coincidence!” Maka said, delighted, as she moved back for him to take over.

Su Biluo was still picking herself off the street when the horse carriage suddenly rushed past her in a gust of wind. She still didn’t know what was going on when she was whisked up onto the carriage into Mo Zichen’s arms.

The carriage sped down two main avenues and soon arrived in front of the general’s estate.

“Whoa—” Mo Zichen said as he reined in the horse.

Then he lifted his arms and deposited Su Biluo on the ground, who was still out of her senses in confusion.

Tonight she had been at the brink of death twice and unceremoniously thrown down twice. She ached all over but could only watch wide-eyed as Mo Zichen lifted the soft curtain and called gently, “Little Sister Yuke—”

Then a beautiful girl was led out by Mo Zichen. When she saw her, Su Biluo finally understood the true meaning of beauty that “outshines the moon and puts flowers to shame”, or beauty that makes “fish forget to swim and birds drop from the sky”.

She had thought this body she had transmigrated into was already a vivacious, nation-toppling beauty, but it turned out there was an even more lovely, stirring, peerless beauty than herself.

If Su Biluo were a plain ole chrysanthemum, then this “Yuke” was as pretty as a peony.

One glance was enough to take one’s breath away.

“Little Sister Yuke, what brings you here? If you had sent word you were coming I would have dispatched someone to go pick you up!” Mo Zichen spoke as gentle as a spring breeze. Su Biluo had never seen him like this.

Maka put down the step stool and Mo Zichen helped the beauty down slowly from the carriage.

“Tch—” Su Biluo snickered. She gave Mo Zichen an eyeful of cold side-eye.

This proud, wooden general had lost his mind at the sight of a beautiful girl and no longer called himself “this general”, but was instead so careful and attentive. Yet he was so coarse with herself. If he wasn’t throwing her down he was looking at her with contempt.

So what that she had Neverland turning a nice profit and had snatched up the warhorse trade? She’d yet to hear a word of praise.

Ah—

She sighed. Did she really want a general like this? Was he worth entrusting her life to?

She could accept his arrogance, or the cold front he put up. She could handle him acting like a snob. But, she could never accept a womanizer.

Was this Little Sister Yuke the one he loved?

No! No way! She must get to the bottom of this. It was not at all Su Biluo’s style to just let things go so easily without making things clear.

She cocked her eyebrow and came forward, all smiles, and aggressively snatched Yuke’s slender white hand from Mo Zichen’s grasp and held his hand lovingly.
