Chapter 23: Then I’ll Wait For You to Love Me

Mo Zichen’s challenging eyes were locked on Su Biluo. “However, once this general finds the woman he loves he will take her as a concubine, and you are not to say a word in objection. If you say one word about it, she will become my legal wife and you will be the concubine. Furthermore, this general will continue to sleep in the study until said woman appears. Then this general will move into her room.”

Su Biluo stood stock-still, staring at him in disbelief for some time.

Was this cold, brutal grand general of the nation a germaphobe or something? She’d thought him cold and unfeeling, but turns out he was lovesick?

Only it seemed he had yet to find the target of his infatuation. So then it wasn’t Man Yuke?

Su Biluo was overcome with joy.

“Haha—” she laughed cheerfully. “Alrighty! That’s an easy problem to solve. Hubby, I’ll just wait for you to love me. If I become the woman you love, won’t that satisfy us both?”

Mo Zichen was momentarily taken aback. Then, a devilish look appeared on her face and she pounced on him like a cat in heat.

She wrapped her arms tightly around his waist and pressed her small mouth to his.

“Mmph—” Mo Zichen’s eyes widened as his breath was suddenly muffled.

Su Biluo was impetuous, clumsily kissing him while delicately murmuring, “Love me, Hubby, then you won’t have to remarry and I won’t have to remarry. Is that so bad? Does this make you feel anything, Hubby…”

She continued to probe, forcing her tongue through his clamped-tight mouth. But there was a sudden sound of Man Yuke’s voice from outside. “Big Cousin, are you in there? I want to see you.”

Mo Zichen seemed like he had woken from a dream and he pushed Su Biluo away.

He was panting, but his low, deep voice resumed it’s usual thunderous severity, making Su Biluo’s blood freeze.

“Minx, if you don’t cease your impudence, this general will cut out your tongue!”

She didn’t respond, just lightly cocked her willow-arched brow and made a face at him.

Seeing him with his face flushed red all over was really amusing.

Mo Zichen adjusted his clothes and raised his voice. “Come in.”

Maka pushed the door open with a creak and Man Yuke entered, personally carrying a few small plates of food and a bowl of rice.

That pretty face, like a bright moon, was really too much beauty for one to take in. It completely siezed Su Biluo’s attention, to say the least.

Su Biluo’s earlier joy was instantly wiped away when she saw Man Yuke’s gentle manner as she carried the dishes, and she suddenly had a moment of clarity.

Even if she wasn’t the one Mo Zichen truly loved, since antiquity there had been many stories of cousins getting together, so she could not discount the possibility that Mo Zichen might fall in love with her.

Man Yuke had fled a marriage and come here, this peerless beauty, and her intentions were clear to all. Along with her gentle disposition, it would be much easier for her than a strong woman like Su Biluo to win Mo Zichen’s heart if she so desired.

What to do? What to do? Su Biluo smelled danger.

“Big Cousin, Grandmother was worried you filled up on anger rather than food, so she sent me to bring you something to eat. You must accept it, Big Cousin, otherwise Yuke won’t be able to face Grandmother.”

Man Yuke smiled gently and presented a bowl of soup to Mo Zichen’s lips.

Su Biluo looked on from the side. Tch tch, look at her. So effortlessly acting all cute and pouty. Her perfect poise of a young woman is much more powerful than my own coarse, slapdash way.

But surely Big Cousin won’t be taken in by that? Cute, helpless-looking girls were a dime a dozen, but there was no one but her who could help him make money.
