Chapter 25: You’re My Hero

Her eloquence and clever response amazed Man Yuke to no end. Her speech was carefully considerd, well-grounded, and left her no room to retort. If she disagreed, then she herself would appear heartless, like she was biting the hand that fed her.

Man Yuke pulled the corners of her mouth into a wry smile. “Yes, Sister-in-law is right. I’ll give up talk of marriage for now; we’ll discuss it another day. But…”

She pursed her lips and smiled mournfully, her eyes glistening with tears that were like plump pearls, glittering and translucent to make one’s heart ache.

“Cousin, no matter what, you mustn’t cast aside Yuke. You can’t let me stay in a wolf’s den, you can’t push me into a fiery pit. You must think of a way to make father and mother reject the marriage. I’m begging you!”

She suddenly flung herself at Mo Zichen’s feet.

Mo Zichen quickly put down his bowl and chopsticks and stood to help Man Yuke up. “You mustn’t do that, Little Sis Yuke.”

“Cousin, promise me, for the sake of our childhood affection for each other. This marriage will ruin my life. Right now I can only beg you, you’re my only savior. You’ve been my hero since I was little. Who else can help me except you?”

Gimme a break. Su Biluo rolled her eyes.

With a face like hers that even the gods envied, any good-for-nothing man would feel a surge of heroic sentiment!

Ah, yep, in front of a man it was better to act cute.

She heard Mo Zichen’s flustered, hurried promise. “Alright, Little Sis Yuke, please get up. I promise. No matter what, I won’t let you be married off to the crown prince of Eastern Ling.”

Su Biluo frowned and shook her head helplessly.

This Grand General of the Nation dealt with things too impuslively. One could even say he’d been… swayed by his emotions!

This was nothing at all like the rumors.

Teary-eyed Man Yuke used Mo Zichen’s arm for support as she got to her feet and gently thanked him, then took her leave. Before she left she politely urged Mo Zichen to sleep early.

After seeing her off, Mo Zichen turned back to Su Biluo. “Alright, you’ve been causing trouble all day, so you must be tired too. Go to your room and rest.”

Su Biluo really was tired and listless, so she didn’t argue, but gave a joyful reply. “Okay. Early to bed, early to rise is good for one’s health. Tomorrow morning we’ll have a meeting!”

“A… meeting?” Mo Zichen’s face was a mass of confusion.

Su Biluo didn’t explain, only waved and left.

She looked so free and easy doing it.

Mo Zichen couldn’t help but sneer. “She’s clearly a punk. Where’s her womanliness?”

It was an uneventful night.

Late morning, the next day.

Mo Zichen returned from the morning court session and was changing out of his court robes and into something more nimble for practice on the training grounds.

He was stopped by the steward, Mo Di, as he passed through the garden and was invited to the conference room in Neverland in the west compound.

Su Biluo had had a long conference table specially made. Mo Zichen had never been in this room before. At first glance it looked quite novel.

Su Biluo sat at the head of the table, and on both sides of her sat the entire Mo family, as well as Neverland’s supervisors.

What was even more surprising to Mo Zichen was that the two elders, Grandmother Mo Fengzhi, and his mother, Meng Zixian, were seated there as well.

“Mister Mo, please take your seat!” Su Biluo gestured politely to the seat opposite her at the other end of the table.

There was some distance between them, but Mo Zichen still had the sudden urge to tear Su Biluo to pieces.

This naughty girl was so fake. What the hell was she trying to pull? And what the hell language was she using?

Mister? What the hell was that?

  1. Lol! I absolutely love SBL. Is she my new favourite character? I love her spunk and personality. Our dear general is in for a fun and never boring marriage with her.

Thank you so much for picking this novel. ♥️
