Chapter 3: Must Be The One I Love

Mo Zichen lifted her wrist and pulled her close, nearly pulling her into his arms.

He seized the moment and put his other big hand around her slim waist and gripped her firmly and leaned over her.

As his icy gaze bore down on her, his hot breath puffed in and out slightly, and with it an icy fragrance that made her heart pound.

“What else can we do on our wedding night?” Mo Zichen arched his eyebrow, his pitch-black, bottomless eyes gleaming mischief.

Su Biluo swallowed hard and clenched her trapped hand into a fist and tried her best to maintain her distance, though they were almost touching.

“W-w-what can we do? Our marriage is just a transaction, there’s no need for us to do anything.”

Su Biluo was attempting to use reason, but when a scholar went up against a soldier it rarely turned out well. She lost her confidence and stammered under his strong aggression.

“Hmph, not necessarily. The contract is sealed with a signature, so our nuptials…”

His mischievous grin widened as he drew closer, and closer…

The tip of his nose was just about to brush against hers, his sexy, exquisite thin lips just an inch away.

Su Biluo closed her mouth tightly and reared her head back, her little face flushed.

She was cursing him to herself: just don’t come any closer; my back might snap if I go back any further.

“Don’t—”

She closed her eyes, pushed against his chest, and surprisingly pushed air.

He straightened suddenly and let her go.

“Ah ah ah—” she screamed, and fell forward.

Mo Zichen snatched the contract out of her hand as she fell.

With vigorous strides he went to the writing desk and with a flourish signed his name, then tossed the contract away, where it floated down and settled on Su Biluo’s confused face as she lay on the floor.

“The contract is sealed with a signature, but you don’t have to enter the bridal chamber. Even though your beauty could topple nations, this general is not interested. The woman this general wants must be the one he loves.”

“Whew—” She sighed in relief. “Should have said so earlier. You scared me to death.”

She grabbed the contract from her face and looked at it as she stood up. “You… You added a deadline?”

“Yes!” Mo Zichen looked real proud of himself, his tone decisive. “You have half a year to make 300,000 taels. Doesn’t matter how you do it, as long as you make it. Otherwise, this general will have to put aside this face you were talking about earlier and publicly raise a dispute with his father-in-law.”

Su Biluo side-eyed him, furious. “No way, that’s not enough time!”

“Whether it is or not is your problem now. Weren’t you so full of yourself just now?” His sharp eyes were filled with derision. But that was enough talk. He turned to leave.

“Oh, and wipe the ink off your face.”

As he left the room, stifled laughter lingered behind him.

“Grand General—” came the greetings of Moonglow and Vivid from the other side of the doors.

Su Biluo hurried over to her mirror with its flower petal edging, and looked. There were two brush strokes on her face, making her look like a cat with whiskers. She curled her lips. She must have swiped herself with the brush in her hand when she fell.

She heard Moonglow and Vivid’s familiar whispering outside the doors. “Why did the general leave?”

Su Biluo took her time washing her face, sitting before the mirror in a daze. The trace of an enigmatic smile formed on her lips.

She’d come to Cloudwind Continent half a month ago, and the most difficult part was now over.

That Mo Zichen was not one to provoke, but he was not the tyrannical fiend people said he was. It was actually fortunate that he was unfortunate to be so handsome he had no friends.

Half a month ago she had been traversing the world of business in the 21st century, so awesome no one was her equal. She never expected one of her adversaries would hire and assassin to do her in, and that she would then be magnificently transported to Cloudwind Continent in this small nation of Northern Mo as the weak and helpless second daughter of the Su family, with the same name and same age as her former self.
